Splurge or Conserve

Updated: Dec 13, 2020

I recently had client that wanted to duplicate a look posted on Instagram by former Love & Hip Hop’s reality star Tahiry Jose with a budget of $150. Tahiry’s handbag by Jacquemus is approximately $670 USD and that’s just the handbag! A lot of us are working class citizens and can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars on a wardrobe let alone one outfit. Yet, there is no need to be discouraged there is always a way to get the look for less. Plus, instead of replicating the entire outfit it’s good to put your own personal spin on it with things you may already own in your closet.

I always say…. Individualism is Stylish.

Question: Have you ever put back an item you liked because you thought it looked cheap? We have this need to look expensive. Where does that need come from? First we must understand having and wearing expensive things should not make us feel better about ourselves. Self-love is an inside job. Yet, I get it no one wants to look cheap…. but challenge you with another question - Why splurge? If it’s for one night only – go inexpensive and that doesn’t mean all things priced lower will look cheap. There are good man made products, faux leather, and vegan leather (although not cheap) is trending now. If it’s for usage, quality, and longevity – yes by all means invest in yourself! Please don’t buy the $500 sunglasses just to post selfies on social media if you know you won’t keep up with them you better grab those Quay Australia stylish sunglasses and conserve that $430.

Check this out $139.95 vs. $39.99

I’ve seen these “in real life” trust me depending on how much walking, sitting, and/or standing is involved I’d have no problems picking the $39.99 plus we all know your feet can and will hurt no matter the cost of the shoe! Isn’t that right Christian Louboutin So Kate? LOL
